⁶ He left all that he owned under Joseph’s authority;^[a] he did not concern himself with anything except the food he ate.

Now Joseph was well-built and handsome.^(A)

¹² So Jesse sent for him. He had beautiful eyes and a healthy,^[a] handsome appearance.^(A)

Then the Lord said, “Anoint him, for he is the one.”^(B)

¹⁸ One of the young men answered, “I have seen a son of Jesse of Bethlehem who knows how to play the lyre. He is also a valiant man,^(A) a warrior, eloquent, handsome, and the Lord is with him.”^(B)

⁴² When the Philistine looked and saw David, he despised him^(A) because he was just a youth, healthy^[a](B) and handsome.

⁶ But his father had never once infuriated^(A) him by asking, “Why did you do that?” ^(B) In addition, he was quite handsome^(C) and was born after Absalom.^(D)
