17 Then she (A)spoke to him with words like these, saying, “The Hebrew servant whom you brought to us came in to me to mock me; 18 so it happened, as I lifted my voice and cried out, that he left his garment with me and fled outside.”

19 So it was, when his master heard the words which his wife spoke to him, saying, “Your servant did to me after this manner,” that his (B)anger was aroused. 20 Then Joseph’s master took him and (C)put him into the (D)prison, a place where the king’s prisoners were confined. And he was there in the prison.

17 Then she told him this story:(A) “That Hebrew(B) slave(C) you brought us came to me to make sport of me. 18 But as soon as I screamed for help, he left his cloak beside me and ran out of the house.”

19 When his master heard the story his wife told him, saying, “This is how your slave treated me,” he burned with anger.(D) 20 Joseph’s master took him and put him in prison,(E) the place where the king’s prisoners were confined.
