^11 (A)His brothers were jealous of him, but his father ^(B)kept the saying in mind.

²⁸ Then some ^(A)Midianite traders passed by, so they pulled him up and lifted Joseph out of the pit, and ^(B)sold ^[a]him to the Ishmaelites for twenty shekels of silver. Thus ^(C)they brought Joseph into Egypt.

^2 (A)The Lord was with Joseph, so he became a ^[a]successful man. And he was in the house of his master, the Egyptian.

²¹ But ^(A)the Lord was with Joseph and extended kindness to him, and ^(B)gave him favor in the sight of the chief jailer. ²² The chief jailer ^(C)committed to Joseph’s ^[a]charge all the prisoners who were in the jail; so that whatever was done there, he was ^[b]responsible for it. ^23 (D)The chief jailer did not supervise anything under ^[c]Joseph’s charge because ^(E)the Lord was with him; and whatever he did, ^(F)the Lord made to prosper.

⁴ Then Joseph said to his brothers, “Please come ^[a]closer to me.” And they came ^[b]closer. And he said, “I am your brother Joseph, whom you ^(A)sold into Egypt.
