The Sons of Jacob

²² Now it happened while Israel was dwelling in that land, that ^(A)Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father’s concubine, and Israel heard of it.

And there were twelve sons of Jacob—

²⁰ ‘^(A)Cursed is he who lies with his father’s wife because he has uncovered his father’s skirt.’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’

5 Now the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel (for ^(A)he was the firstborn, but because ^(B)he profaned his father’s bed, ^(C)his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph the son of Israel; so that he is not recorded in the genealogy according to the birthright.
