³⁰ So Jacob named the place ^[a]Peniel, for he said, “^(A)I have seen God face to face, yet my ^[b]life has been delivered.”

²⁰ But He said, “You cannot see My face, ^(A)for no man can see Me and live!”

²¹ Now the angel of Yahweh did not appear to Manoah or his wife again. ^(A)Then Manoah knew that he was the angel of Yahweh. ²² So Manoah said to his wife, “^(B)We will surely die, for we have seen God.”
