¹⁸ to Abraham as purchased ^(A)in the sight of the sons of Heth, before all who came in at the gate of his city.

²⁰ So Hamor and his son Shechem came to the ^(A)gate of their city and spoke to the men of their city, saying,

^24 (A)And all who went out of the gate of his city listened to Hamor and to his son Shechem, and every male was circumcised, all who went out of the gate of his city.

Ruth Becomes Boaz’ Wife

4 Now Boaz went up to the gate and sat down there, and behold, ^(A)the kinsman redeemer of whom Boaz spoke was passing by, so he said, “Turn aside, ^[a]my fellow, sit down here.” And he turned aside and sat down.

¹¹ And all the people who were in the gate, and the elders, said, “We are witnesses. May Yahweh grant the woman who is coming into your home to be ^(A)like Rachel and Leah, both of whom built the house of Israel, and so you shall ^[a]achieve ^[b]excellence in Ephrathah and shall ^[c]proclaim your name in Bethlehem.
