A Covenant with Abimelech

²² Now it happened at that time, that ^(A)Abimelech and Phicol, the commander of his army, spoke to Abraham, saying, “^(B)God is with you in all that you do;

¹³ And behold, ^(A)Yahweh stood ^[a]above it and said, “I am Yahweh, ^(B)the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie, I will give it ^(C)to you and to ^(D)your seed.

¹⁵ Behold, ^(A)I am with you and ^(B)will keep you wherever you go. And ^(C)I will bring you back to this land; for ^(D)I will not forsake you until I have done what I have ^[a]promised you.”

²⁹ It is in my hand to do evil against you, but ^(A)the God of your father spoke to me last night, saying, ‘^[a](B)Beware of speaking either good or evil to Jacob.’

⁴² If ^(A)the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the dread of Isaac, had not been for me, surely now you would have sent me away empty. ^(B)God has seen my affliction and the toil of my hands, so He ^(C)rendered the decision last night.”

^53 (A)The God of Abraham and the God of Nahor, the God of their father, ^(B)judge between us.” So Jacob swore by ^(C)the dread of his father Isaac.

⁵ Make sure that your way of life is ^(A)free from the love of money, ^(B)being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, “^(C)I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you,”
