⁸ And Yahweh God planted a ^(A)garden in Eden, toward the east; and there He placed the man whom He had formed. ⁹ And out of the ground Yahweh God caused to grow ^(B)every tree that is ^(C)desirable in appearance and good for food; ^(D)the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

¹⁰ Then Lot lifted up his eyes and saw all the ^[a](A)valley of the Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere—this was before Yahweh ^(B)destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah—like ^(C)the garden of Yahweh, ^(D)like the land of Egypt as you go to ^(E)Zoar.

¹⁶ I made the nations ^(A)quake at the sound of its downfall when I made it ^(B)go down to Sheol with those who go down to the pit; and all the trees of Eden, the choicest and best of ^(C)Lebanon, all the ^[a]well-watered ones, were ^(D)comforted in the earth beneath.

¹⁸ “To which among the trees of Eden do you thus liken yourself in glory and greatness? Yet you will be brought down with the trees of Eden to the earth beneath; you will lie in the midst of the ^(A)uncircumcised, with those who were slain by the sword. ^(B)So is Pharaoh and all his multitude!”’ declares Lord Yahweh.”
