⁸ Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden;^(A) and there he put the man he had formed. ⁹ The Lord God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground—trees^(B) that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life^(C) and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.^(D)

⁴³ Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”^(A)

⁴ was caught up^(A) to paradise^(B) and heard inexpressible things, things that no one is permitted to tell.

² down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life,^(A) bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.^(B)

¹⁴ “Blessed are those who wash their robes,^(A) that they may have the right to the tree of life^(B) and may go through the gates^(C) into the city.^(D)

¹⁹ And if anyone takes words away^(A) from this scroll of prophecy,^(B) God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life^(C) and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll.
