Genesis 2:20-24 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
20 The man gave names to all the cattle, and to the birds of the [a]sky, and to every beast of the field, but for [b]Adam there was not found a helper [c]suitable for him. 21 So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place. 22 The Lord God [d]fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. 23 The man said,
24 For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.

20 So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals.
But for Adam[a] no suitable helper was found. 21 So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs[b] and then closed up the place with flesh. 22 Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib[c] he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.
23 The man said,
“This is now bone of my bones
24 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.
