God's Covenant with Abram
15 After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: (A)“Fear not, Abram, I am (B)your shield; your reward shall be very great.” 2 But Abram said, “O Lord God, what will you give me, for I continue[a] childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?” 3 And Abram said, “Behold, you have given me no offspring, and (C)a member of my household will be my heir.” 4 And behold, the word of the Lord came to him: “This man shall not be your heir; (D)your very own son[b] shall be your heir.” 5 And he brought him outside and said, “Look toward heaven, and (E)number the stars, if you are able to number them.” Then he said to him, (F)“So shall your offspring be.” 6 And (G)he believed the Lord, and (H)he counted it to him as righteousness.
7 And he said to him, “I am the Lord who (I)brought you out from Ur of the Chaldeans (J)to give you this land to possess.” 8 But he said, “O Lord God, (K)how am I to know that I shall possess it?” 9 He said to him, “Bring me a heifer three years old, a female goat three years old, a ram three years old, a turtledove, and a young pigeon.” 10 And he brought him all these, (L)cut them in half, and laid each half over against the other. But (M)he did not cut the birds in half. 11 And when birds of prey came down on the carcasses, Abram drove them away.
12 As the sun was going down, a (N)deep sleep fell on Abram. And behold, dreadful and great darkness fell upon him. 13 Then the Lord said to Abram, “Know for certain (O)that your offspring will be sojourners in a land that is not theirs and will be servants there, and (P)they will be afflicted for (Q)four hundred years. 14 But (R)I will bring judgment on the nation that they serve, and afterward (S)they shall come out with great possessions. 15 As for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; (T)you shall be buried in a good old age. 16 And they shall come back here in the fourth generation, for (U)the iniquity of the Amorites (V)is not yet complete.”
17 When the sun had gone down and it was dark, behold, a smoking fire pot and a flaming torch passed between these pieces. 18 On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, (W)“To your offspring I give[c] this land, from (X)the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates, 19 the land of the Kenites, the Kenizzites, the Kadmonites, 20 the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaim, 21 the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites and the Jebusites.”

The Lord’s Fourth Promise to Abram
15 Later the Lord spoke his word to Abram in a vision. He said,
“Abram, don’t be afraid.
I am your shield.
Your reward will be very great.” [a]
2 Abram asked, “Almighty Lord, what will you give me? Since I’m going to die without children, Eliezer of Damascus will inherit my household. 3 You have given me no children, so this member of my household will be my heir.”
4 Suddenly, the Lord spoke his word to Abram again. He said, “This man will not be your heir. Your own son will be your heir.” 5 He took Abram outside and said, “Now look up at the sky and count the stars, if you are able to count them.” He also said to him, “That’s how many descendants you will have!” 6 Then Abram believed the Lord, and that faith was regarded as the basis of Abram’s approval by the Lord. 7 Then the Lord said to him, “I am the Lord, who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land so that you will take possession of it.”
8 Abram asked, “Almighty Lord, how can I be certain that I will take possession of it?”
9 He answered Abram, “Bring me a three-year-old heifer, a three-year-old female goat, a three-year-old ram, a mourning dove, and a pigeon.” 10 So Abram brought all these animals to him. He cut each of them in half and laid each half opposite the other. However, he did not cut the birds in half.
11 When birds of prey came down upon the carcasses, Abram drove them away. 12 As the sun was just about to set, a deep sleep—a dreadful, deep darkness—came over Abram.
13 God said to Abram, “You can know for sure that your descendants will live in a land that is not their own, where they will be slaves, and they will be oppressed for 400 years. 14 But I will punish the nation they serve, and after that they will come out with many possessions. 15 But you will die in peace and be buried at a very old age. 16 In the fourth generation your descendants will come back here, because the sin of the Amorites will not have run its course until then.”
17 The sun had gone down, and it was dark. Suddenly a smoking oven and a flaming torch passed between the animal pieces. 18 At that time the Lord made a promise [b] to Abram. He said, “I will give this land to your descendants. This is the land from the river of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates. 19 It is the land of the Kenites, the Kenizzites, the Kadmonites, 20 the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaim, 21 the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.”

15 Después de estas cosas vino la palabra de Jehová a Abram en visión, diciendo: No temas, Abram; yo soy tu escudo, y tu galardón será sobremanera grande. 2 Y respondió Abram: Señor Jehová, ¿qué me darás, siendo así que ando sin hijo, y el mayordomo de mi casa es ese damasceno Eliezer? 3 Dijo también Abram: Mira que no me has dado prole, y he aquí que será mi heredero un esclavo nacido en mi casa. 4 Luego vino a él palabra de Jehová, diciendo: No te heredará este, sino un hijo tuyo será el que te heredará. 5 Y lo llevó fuera, y le dijo: Mira ahora los cielos, y cuenta las estrellas, si las puedes contar. Y le dijo: Así será tu descendencia.(A) 6 Y creyó a Jehová, y le fue contado por justicia.(B) 7 Y le dijo: Yo soy Jehová, que te saqué de Ur de los caldeos, para darte a heredar esta tierra. 8 Y él respondió: Señor Jehová, ¿en qué conoceré que la he de heredar? 9 Y le dijo: Tráeme una becerra de tres años, y una cabra de tres años, y un carnero de tres años, una tórtola también, y un palomino. 10 Y tomó él todo esto, y los partió por la mitad, y puso cada mitad una enfrente de la otra; mas no partió las aves. 11 Y descendían aves de rapiña sobre los cuerpos muertos, y Abram las ahuyentaba. 12 Mas a la caída del sol sobrecogió el sueño a Abram, y he aquí que el temor de una grande oscuridad cayó sobre él. 13 Entonces Jehová dijo a Abram: Ten por cierto que tu descendencia morará en tierra ajena, y será esclava allí, y será oprimida cuatrocientos años.(C) 14 Mas también a la nación a la cual servirán, juzgaré yo; y después de esto saldrán con gran riqueza.(D) 15 Y tú vendrás a tus padres en paz, y serás sepultado en buena vejez. 16 Y en la cuarta generación volverán acá; porque aún no ha llegado a su colmo la maldad del amorreo hasta aquí. 17 Y sucedió que puesto el sol, y ya oscurecido, se veía un horno humeando, y una antorcha de fuego que pasaba por entre los animales divididos. 18 En aquel día hizo Jehová un pacto con Abram, diciendo: A tu descendencia daré esta tierra,(E) desde el río de Egipto hasta el río grande, el río Éufrates; 19 la tierra de los ceneos, los cenezeos, los cadmoneos, 20 los heteos, los ferezeos, los refaítas, 21 los amorreos, los cananeos, los gergeseos y los jebuseos.

15 После сих происшествий было слово Господа к Авраму в видении, и сказано: не бойся, Аврам; Я твой щит; награда твоя весьма велика.
2 Аврам сказал: Владыка Господи! что Ты дашь мне? я остаюсь бездетным; распорядитель в доме моем этот Елиезер из Дамаска.
3 И сказал Аврам: вот, Ты не дал мне потомства, и вот, домочадец мой наследник мой.
4 И было слово Господа к нему, и сказано: не будет он твоим наследником, но тот, кто произойдет из чресл твоих, будет твоим наследником.
5 И вывел его вон и сказал: посмотри на небо и сосчитай звезды, если ты можешь счесть их. И сказал ему: столько будет у тебя потомков.
6 Аврам поверил Господу, и Он вменил ему это в праведность.
7 И сказал ему: Я Господь, Который вывел тебя из Ура Халдейского, чтобы дать тебе землю сию во владение.
8 Он сказал: Владыка Господи! по чему мне узнать, что я буду владеть ею?
9 [Господь] сказал ему: возьми Мне трехлетнюю телицу, трехлетнюю козу, трехлетнего овна, горлицу и молодого голубя.
10 Он взял всех их, рассек их пополам и положил одну часть против другой; только птиц не рассек.
11 И налетели на трупы хищные птицы; но Аврам отгонял их.
12 При захождении солнца крепкий сон напал на Аврама, и вот, напал на него ужас и мрак великий.
13 И сказал [Господь] Авраму: знай, что потомки твои будут пришельцами в земле не своей, и поработят их, и будут угнетать их четыреста лет,
14 но Я произведу суд над народом, у которого они будут в порабощении; после сего они выйдут с большим имуществом,
15 а ты отойдешь к отцам твоим в мире [и] будешь погребен в старости доброй;
16 в четвертом роде возвратятся они сюда: ибо [мера] беззаконий Аморреев доселе еще не наполнилась.
17 Когда зашло солнце и наступила тьма, вот, дым [как бы из] печи и пламя огня прошли между рассеченными [животными].
18 В этот день заключил Господь завет с Аврамом, сказав: потомству твоему даю Я землю сию, от реки Египетской до великой реки, реки Евфрата:
19 Кенеев, Кенезеев, Кедмонеев,
20 Хеттеев, Ферезеев, Рефаимов,
21 Аморреев, Хананеев, Гергесеев и Иевусеев.
