8 But he said, “O Lord God, how am I to know that I shall possess it?”(A) 9 He said to him, “Bring me a heifer three years old, a female goat three years old, a ram three years old, a turtledove, and a young pigeon.” 10 He brought him all these and cut them in two, laying each half over against the other, but he did not cut the birds in two.(B)

9 So the Lord said to him, “Bring me a heifer,(D) a goat and a ram, each three years old,(E) along with a dove and a young pigeon.(F)”
10 Abram brought all these to him, cut them in two and arranged the halves opposite each other;(G) the birds, however, he did not cut in half.(H)
