¹⁸ On that day Yahweh cut a covenant with Abram, saying,

^24 (A)Every place on which the sole of your foot treads shall be yours; ^(B)your border will be from the wilderness to Lebanon, and from the river, the river Euphrates, as far as the ^[a]western sea.

⁴⁰ Thus Joshua struck all the land—^(A)the hill country and the ^[a]Negev and the ^[b]Shephelah and the slopes—as well as ^(B)all their kings. He left no survivor remaining, but ^(C)he devoted to destruction all who breathed, just as Yahweh, the God of Israel, had commanded.
