Isaiah 44:6-8
New Living Translation
The Foolishness of Idols
6 This is what the Lord says—Israel’s King and Redeemer, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies:
“I am the First and the Last;
there is no other God.
7 Who is like me?
Let him step forward and prove to you his power.
Let him do as I have done since ancient times
when I established a people and explained its future.
8 Do not tremble; do not be afraid.
Did I not proclaim my purposes for you long ago?
You are my witnesses—is there any other God?
No! There is no other Rock—not one!”
Isaiah 44:6-8
New International Version
The Lord, Not Idols
6 “This is what the Lord says—
Israel’s King(A) and Redeemer,(B) the Lord Almighty:
I am the first and I am the last;(C)
apart from me there is no God.(D)
7 Who then is like me?(E) Let him proclaim it.
Let him declare and lay out before me
what has happened since I established my ancient people,
and what is yet to come—
yes, let them foretell(F) what will come.
8 Do not tremble, do not be afraid.
Did I not proclaim(G) this and foretell it long ago?
You are my witnesses. Is there any God(H) besides me?
No, there is no other Rock;(I) I know not one.”

Prologue: Christ, the Eternal Word
1 In the beginning the Word already existed.
The Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
2 He existed in the beginning with God.
3 God created everything through him,
and nothing was created except through him.

John 1:14
New International Version
14 The Word became flesh(A) and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory,(B) the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace(C) and truth.(D)
1 Corinthians 2:9-12
New Living Translation
9 That is what the Scriptures mean when they say,
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard,
and no mind has imagined
what God has prepared
for those who love him.”[a]
10 But[b] it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. 11 No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. 12 And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.

9 However, as it is written:
“What no eye has seen,
what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived”[a]—
the things God has prepared for those who love him—(A)
10 these are the things God has revealed(B) to us by his Spirit.(C)
The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. 11 For who knows a person’s thoughts(D) except their own spirit(E) within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12 What we have received is not the spirit(F) of the world,(G) but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us.

He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation,[a]

in the heavenly realms and on earth.
He made the things we can see
and the things we can’t see—
such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world.
Everything was created through him and for him.
