Caino e Abele
4 Adamo si unì a Eva sua moglie, la quale concepì e partorì Caino e disse: «Ho acquistato un uomo dal Signore». 2 Poi partorì ancora suo fratello Abele. Ora Abele era pastore di greggi e Caino lavoratore del suolo.
3 Dopo un certo tempo, Caino offrì frutti del suolo in sacrificio al Signore; 4 anche Abele offrì primogeniti del suo gregge e il loro grasso. Il Signore gradì Abele e la sua offerta, 5 ma non gradì Caino e la sua offerta. Caino ne fu molto irritato e il suo volto era abbattuto. 6 Il Signore disse allora a Caino: «Perché sei irritato e perché è abbattuto il tuo volto? 7 Se agisci bene, non dovrai forse tenerlo alto? Ma se non agisci bene, il peccato è accovacciato alla tua porta; verso di te è il suo istinto, ma tu dòminalo». 8 Caino disse al fratello Abele: «Andiamo in campagna!». Mentre erano in campagna, Caino alzò la mano contro il fratello Abele e lo uccise. 9 Allora il Signore disse a Caino: «Dov'è Abele, tuo fratello?». Egli rispose: «Non lo so. Sono forse il guardiano di mio fratello?». 10 Riprese: «Che hai fatto? La voce del sangue di tuo fratello grida a me dal suolo! 11 Ora sii maledetto lungi da quel suolo che per opera della tua mano ha bevuto il sangue di tuo fratello. 12 Quando lavorerai il suolo, esso non ti darà più i suoi prodotti: ramingo e fuggiasco sarai sulla terra». 13 Disse Caino al Signore: «Troppo grande è la mia colpa per ottenere perdono? 14 Ecco, tu mi scacci oggi da questo suolo e io mi dovrò nascondere lontano da te; io sarò ramingo e fuggiasco sulla terra e chiunque mi incontrerà mi potrà uccidere». 15 Ma il Signore gli disse: «Però chiunque ucciderà Caino subirà la vendetta sette volte!». Il Signore impose a Caino un segno, perché non lo colpisse chiunque l'avesse incontrato. 16 Caino si allontanò dal Signore e abitò nel paese di Nod, ad oriente di Eden.
La discendenza di Caino
17 Ora Caino si unì alla moglie che concepì e partorì Enoch; poi divenne costruttore di una città, che chiamò Enoch, dal nome del figlio. 18 A Enoch nacque Irad; Irad generò Mecuiaèl e Mecuiaèl generò Metusaèl e Metusaèl generò Lamech. 19 Lamech si prese due mogli: una chiamata Ada e l'altra chiamata Zilla. 20 Ada partorì Iabal: egli fu il padre di quanti abitano sotto le tende presso il bestiame. 21 Il fratello di questi si chiamava Iubal: egli fu il padre di tutti i suonatori di cetra e di flauto. 22 Zilla a sua volta partorì Tubalkàin, il fabbro, padre di quanti lavorano il rame e il ferro. La sorella di Tubalkàin fu Naama.
23 Lamech disse alle mogli:
Ada e Zilla, ascoltate la mia voce;
mogli di Lamech, porgete l'orecchio al mio dire:
Ho ucciso un uomo per una mia scalfittura
e un ragazzo per un mio livido.
24 Sette volte sarà vendicato Caino
ma Lamech settantasette».
Set e i suoi discendenti
25 Adamo si unì di nuovo alla moglie, che partorì un figlio e lo chiamò Set. «Perché - disse - Dio mi ha concesso un'altra discendenza al posto di Abele, poiché Caino l'ha ucciso».
26 Anche a Set nacque un figlio, che egli chiamò Enos. Allora si cominciò ad invocare il nome del Signore.

4 亚当和他妻子夏娃同房，夏娃便怀孕，生了该隐。她说：“耶和华让我得了一个男孩。” 2 后来，夏娃又生了该隐的弟弟亚伯。长大后，亚伯做了牧羊人，该隐做了农夫。
3 到了收成的时候，该隐把地里的出产当祭物献给耶和华， 4 亚伯也把羊群中头生的羊及其最肥美的部分献给耶和华。耶和华悦纳亚伯和他的祭物， 5 却不悦纳该隐和他的祭物。该隐便非常恼火，面带怒容。 6 耶和华问该隐：“你为什么恼火？为什么面带怒容？ 7 如果你做得对，难道不会蒙悦纳吗？如果你做得不对，罪就蹲在你的门口要控制你，但你必须制服罪。”
8 该隐对弟弟亚伯说：“我们去田间吧！”[a]他们在田间的时候，该隐动手打亚伯，把他杀了。
9 后来，耶和华问该隐：“你弟弟亚伯在哪里？”他说：“我不知道！难道我是弟弟的看护人吗？” 10 耶和华说：“你做了什么事？你弟弟的血从地里向我哭诉。 11 地张开口从你手上接受了你弟弟的血，你在地上必受咒诅。 12 你种地，地却不会再为你长出任何东西，你必在地上四处漂泊。” 13 该隐对耶和华说：“这惩罚太重！我承受不了。 14 今天你把我赶出去，使我不能再见你的面。我在地上四处漂泊，见到我的人都会杀我。” 15 耶和华对他说：“不会的，因为凡杀你的，必遭受七倍的报应。”于是，耶和华在该隐身上留下一个记号，免得见到他的人杀他。 16 该隐离开耶和华，来到伊甸东边的挪得住下来。
该隐的后代
17 该隐和妻子同房，他的妻子就怀孕，生了以诺。该隐建了一座城，用他儿子的名字给这城取名叫以诺。 18 以诺生以拿，以拿生米户雅利，米户雅利生玛土撒利，玛土撒利生拉麦。 19 拉麦娶了两个妻子，一个叫亚大，另一个叫洗拉。 20 亚大生了亚八，亚八是游牧民族的祖先， 21 亚八的弟弟犹八是吹奏乐器之人的鼻祖。 22 洗拉生了土八·该隐，他是打造各种铜铁器具的匠人[b]，他的妹妹叫拿玛。
23 一天，拉麦对他的两个妻子说：
“亚大，洗拉，你们听我的声音；
拉麦的妻子啊，侧耳听我的话，
有人伤我，我杀了他，
青年打我，我宰了他。
24 杀该隐的遭受七倍的报应，
杀拉麦的遭受七十七倍的报应。”
塞特和以挪士
25 亚当又与妻子夏娃同房，夏娃生了一个儿子，取名叫塞特，因为她说：“上帝赐我另一个儿子来代替亚伯，因为该隐杀了他。” 26 塞特生了一个儿子，给他取名叫以挪士。那时候，人才开始求告耶和华。

International Children’s Bible
The First Family
4 Adam had intimate relations with his wife Eve. She became pregnant and gave birth to Cain.[a] Eve said, “With the Lord’s help, I have given birth to a man.” 2 After that, Eve gave birth to Cain’s brother Abel. Abel took care of sheep. Cain became a farmer.
3 Later, Cain brought a gift to God. He brought some food from the ground. 4 Abel brought the best parts of his best sheep. The Lord accepted Abel and his gift. 5 But God did not accept Cain and his gift. Cain became very angry and looked unhappy.
6 The Lord asked Cain, “Why are you angry? Why do you look so unhappy? 7 If you do good, I will accept you. But if you do not do good, sin is ready to attack you. Sin wants you. But you must rule over it.”
8 Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out into the field.” So Cain and Abel went into the field. Then Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.
9 Later, the Lord said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?”
Cain answered, “I don’t know. Is it my job to take care of my brother?”
10 Then the Lord said, “What have you done? Your brother’s blood is on the ground. That blood is like a voice that tells me what happened. 11 And now you will be cursed in your work with the ground. It is the same ground where your brother’s blood fell. Your hands killed him. 12 You will work the ground. But it will not grow good crops for you anymore. You will wander around on the earth.”
13 Then Cain said to the Lord, “This punishment is more than I can stand! 14 Look! You have forced me to stop working the ground. And now I must hide from you. I will wander around on the earth. And anyone who meets me can kill me.”
15 Then the Lord said to Cain, “No! If anyone kills you, I will punish that person seven times more.” Then the Lord put a mark on Cain. It was a warning to anyone who met him not to kill him.
Cain’s Family
16 Then Cain went away from the Lord. Cain lived in the land of Nod,[b] east of Eden. 17 Cain had intimate relations with his wife. She became pregnant and gave birth to Enoch. At that time Cain was building a city. He named it after his son Enoch. 18 Enoch had a son named Irad. Irad had a son named Mehujael. Mehujael had a son named Methushael. And Methushael had a son named Lamech.
19 Lamech married two women. One wife was named Adah, and the other was Zillah. 20 Adah gave birth to Jabal. He was the first person to live in tents and raise cattle. 21 Jabal’s brother was Jubal. Jubal was the first person to play the harp and flute. 22 Zillah gave birth to Tubal-Cain. He made tools out of bronze and iron. The sister of Tubal-Cain was Naamah.
23 Lamech said to his wives:
“Adah and Zillah, hear my voice!
You wives of Lamech, listen to what I say.
I killed a man for wounding me.
I killed a young man for hitting me.
24 Cain’s killer may be punished 7 times.
Then Lamech’s killer will be punished 77 times.”
Adam and Eve Have a New Son
25 Adam had intimate relations with his wife Eve again. And she gave birth to a son. She named him Seth.[c] Eve said, “God has given me another child. He will take the place of Abel, who was killed by Cain.” 26 Seth also had a son. They named him Enosh. At that time people began to pray to the Lord.
