Il sacrificio di Isacco
22 Dopo queste cose, Dio mise alla prova Abramo e gli disse: «Abramo, Abramo!». Rispose: «Eccomi!». 2 Riprese: «Prendi tuo figlio, il tuo unico figlio che ami, Isacco, và nel territorio di Moria e offrilo in olocausto su di un monte che io ti indicherò». 3 Abramo si alzò di buon mattino, sellò l'asino, prese con sé due servi e il figlio Isacco, spaccò la legna per l'olocausto e si mise in viaggio verso il luogo che Dio gli aveva indicato. 4 Il terzo giorno Abramo alzò gli occhi e da lontano vide quel luogo. 5 Allora Abramo disse ai suoi servi: «Fermatevi qui con l'asino; io e il ragazzo andremo fin lassù, ci prostreremo e poi ritorneremo da voi». 6 Abramo prese la legna dell'olocausto e la caricò sul figlio Isacco, prese in mano il fuoco e il coltello, poi proseguirono tutt'e due insieme. 7 Isacco si rivolse al padre Abramo e disse: «Padre mio!». Rispose: «Eccomi, figlio mio». Riprese: «Ecco qui il fuoco e la legna, ma dov'è l'agnello per l'olocausto?». 8 Abramo rispose: «Dio stesso provvederà l'agnello per l'olocausto, figlio mio!». Proseguirono tutt'e due insieme; 9 così arrivarono al luogo che Dio gli aveva indicato; qui Abramo costruì l'altare, collocò la legna, legò il figlio Isacco e lo depose sull'altare, sopra la legna. 10 Poi Abramo stese la mano e prese il coltello per immolare suo figlio. 11 Ma l'angelo del Signore lo chiamò dal cielo e gli disse: «Abramo, Abramo!». Rispose: «Eccomi!». 12 L'angelo disse: «Non stendere la mano contro il ragazzo e non fargli alcun male! Ora so che tu temi Dio e non mi hai rifiutato tuo figlio, il tuo unico figlio». 13 Allora Abramo alzò gli occhi e vide un ariete impigliato con le corna in un cespuglio. Abramo andò a prendere l'ariete e lo offrì in olocausto invece del figlio. 14 Abramo chiamò quel luogo: «Il Signore provvede», perciò oggi si dice: «Sul monte il Signore provvede». 15 Poi l'angelo del Signore chiamò dal cielo Abramo per la seconda volta 16 e disse: «Giuro per me stesso, oracolo del Signore: perché tu hai fatto questo e non mi hai rifiutato tuo figlio, il tuo unico figlio, 17 io ti benedirò con ogni benedizione e renderò molto numerosa la tua discendenza, come le stelle del cielo e come la sabbia che è sul lido del mare; la tua discendenza si impadronirà delle città dei nemici. 18 Saranno benedette per la tua discendenza tutte le nazioni della terra, perché tu hai obbedito alla mia voce».
19 Poi Abramo tornò dai suoi servi; insieme si misero in cammino verso Bersabea e Abramo abitò a Bersabea.
La discendenza di Nacor
20 Dopo queste cose, ad Abramo fu portata questa notizia: «Ecco Milca ha partorito figli a Nacor tuo fratello»: 21 Uz, il primogenito, e suo fratello Buz e Kamuèl il padre di Aram 22 e Chesed, Azo, Pildas, Idlaf e Betuèl; 23 Betuèl generò Rebecca: questi otto figli partorì Milca a Nacor, fratello di Abramo. 24 Anche la sua concubina, chiamata Reuma, partorì figli: Tebach, Gacam, Tacas e Maaca.

22 (A)Dopo queste cose, Dio mise alla prova Abraamo e gli disse: «Abraamo!» Egli rispose: «Eccomi». 2 E Dio disse: «Prendi ora tuo figlio, il tuo unico, colui che ami, Isacco, e va’ nel paese di Moria, e offrilo là in olocausto sopra uno dei monti che ti dirò».
3 Abraamo si alzò la mattina di buon’ora, sellò il suo asino, prese con sé due suoi servi e suo figlio Isacco, spaccò della legna per l’olocausto, poi partì verso il luogo che Dio gli aveva indicato.
4 Il terzo giorno Abraamo alzò gli occhi e vide da lontano il luogo. 5 Allora Abraamo disse ai suoi servi: «Rimanete qui con l’asino; io e il ragazzo andremo fin là e adoreremo; poi torneremo da voi». 6 Abraamo prese la legna per l’olocausto e la mise addosso a Isacco suo figlio, prese in mano il fuoco e il coltello, poi proseguirono tutti e due insieme. 7 Isacco parlò ad Abraamo suo padre e disse: «Padre mio!» Abraamo rispose: «Eccomi qui, figlio mio». E Isacco: «Ecco il fuoco e la legna; ma dov’è l’agnello per l’olocausto?» 8 Abraamo rispose: «Figlio mio, Dio stesso si provvederà l’agnello per l’olocausto». E proseguirono tutti e due insieme.
9 Giunsero al luogo che Dio gli aveva detto. Abraamo costruì l’altare e vi accomodò la legna; legò Isacco suo figlio e lo mise sull’altare, sopra la legna. 10 Abraamo stese la mano e prese il coltello per scannare suo figlio. 11 Ma l’angelo del Signore lo chiamò dal cielo e disse: «Abraamo, Abraamo!» Egli rispose: «Eccomi». 12 E l’angelo: «Non stendere la mano contro il ragazzo e non fargli male! Ora so che tu temi Dio, poiché non mi hai rifiutato tuo figlio, l’unico tuo». 13 Abraamo alzò gli occhi, guardò, ed ecco dietro a sé un montone, impigliato per le corna in un cespuglio. Abraamo andò, prese il montone e l’offerse in olocausto invece di suo figlio. 14 Abraamo chiamò quel luogo «Iavè-Irè[a]». Per questo si dice oggi: «Al monte del Signore sarà provveduto».
15 L’angelo del Signore chiamò dal cielo Abraamo una seconda volta e disse: 16 «Io giuro per me stesso», dice il Signore, «che, siccome tu hai fatto questo e non mi hai rifiutato tuo figlio, l’unico tuo, 17 io ti colmerò di benedizioni e moltiplicherò la tua discendenza[b] come le stelle del cielo e come la sabbia che è sul lido del mare; e la tua discendenza s’impadronirà delle città dei suoi nemici. 18 Tutte le nazioni della terra saranno benedette nella tua discendenza[c], perché tu hai ubbidito alla mia voce».
19 Poi Abraamo tornò dai suoi servi. Essi si levarono e insieme andarono a Beer-Sceba. E Abraamo abitò a Beer-Sceba.
20 (B)Dopo queste cose fu riferito ad Abraamo questo: «Ecco, Milca ha partorito anch’ella dei figli a Naor, tuo fratello: 21 Uz, il primogenito, Buz, suo fratello, 22 Chemuel padre di Aram, Chesed, Azo, Pildas, Idlaf e Betuel».
23 E Betuel generò Rebecca. Questi otto Milca partorì a Naor, fratello di Abraamo. 24 E la concubina di lui, che si chiamava Reuma, partorì anch’essa Teba, Gaam, Taas e Maaca.

22 1,2 The faith of Abraham is proved in offering his son Isaac. 3 Isaac is a figure of Christ. 20 The generations of Nahor Abraham’s brother of whom cometh Rebekah.
1 And after these things God did (A)prove Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham. Who answered, [a]Here am I.
2 And he said, Take now thine only son Isaac whom thou lovest, and get thee unto the land of [b]Moriah, and [c]offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains, which I will show thee.
3 Then Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his servants with him, and Isaac his son, and clove wood for the burnt offering, and rose up and went to the place, which God had told him.
4 ¶ Then the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off,
5 And said unto his servants, Abide you here with the ass: for I and the child will go yonder and worship, and [d]come again unto you.
6 Then Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son, and he took the fire in his hand, and the knife: and they went both together.
7 Then spake Isaac unto Abraham his father, and said, My father. And he answered, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?
8 Then Abraham answered, My son, God will [e]provide him a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both together.
9 And when they came to the place which God had showed him, Abraham built an altar there, and couched the wood, and [f]bound Isaac his son, (B)and laid him on the altar upon the wood.
10 And Abraham stretching forth his hand, took the knife to kill his son.
11 But the Angel of the Lord called unto him from heaven, saying, Abraham, Abraham. And he answered, Here am I.
12 Then he said, Lay not thine hand upon the child, neither do anything unto him: for now I [g]know that thou fearest God, seeing for my sake [h]thou hast not spared thine [i]only son.
13 And Abraham lifting up his eyes, looked and behold, there was a ram behind him caught by the horns in a bush: then Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
14 And Abraham called the name of that place [j]Jehovah Jireh: as it is said this day, In the mount will the Lord [k]be seen.
15 ¶ And the Angel of the Lord cried unto Abraham from heaven the second time,
16 And said, (C)By [l]myself have I sworn (saith the Lord) because thou hast done this thing, and hast not spared thine only son,
17 Therefore will I surely bless thee, and will greatly multiply thy seed, as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore, and thy seed shall possess the [m]gate of his enemies.
18 (D)And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because thou hast obeyed my voice.
19 Then turned Abraham again unto his servants, and they rose up, and went together to Beersheba: and Abraham dwelt at Beersheba.
20 ¶ And after these things one told Abraham, saying, Behold Milcah, she hath also born children unto thy brother Nahor:
21 To wit, Huz his eldest son, and Buz his brother, and Kemuel the father of [n]Aram,
22 And Chesed, and Hazo, and Pildash, and Jidlaph, and Bethuel.
23 And Bethuel begat Rebekah: these eight did Milcah bear to Nahor, Abraham’s brother.
24 And his [o]concubine called Reumah, she bare also Tebah, and Gaham, and Thahash and Maachah.
