2 Det här är berättelsen om Jakob och hans släkt. Jakobs son Josef, som nu var sjutton år, vallade fåren med sina bröder. Som ung var han tillsammans med sönerna till sin fars bihustrur Bilha och Silpa. Det onda han hörde om dem, förde han vidare till sin far.

Joseph, being seventeen years old, was pasturing the flock with his brothers. He was a boy with the sons of Bilhah and Zilpah, his father's wives. And Joseph brought (A)a bad report of them to their father.
