8 Девора, кормилица Ревекки, умерла и была похоронена под дубом близ Вефиля. Поэтому он был назван «Дуб Плача»[a].
9 Когда Иаков вернулся из Паддан-Арама, Бог вновь явился ему и благословил его. 10 Бог сказал ему:
– Твое имя Иаков[b], но отныне ты не будешь называться Иаковом. Имя тебе будет – «Израиль»[c].
Так Он назвал его Израилем.
11 Бог сказал ему:
– Я – Бог Всемогущий[d], плодись и умножайся. Народ и множество народов, произойдут от тебя, и цари произойдут от твоих чресел. 12 Землю, которую Я дал Аврааму и Исааку, Я отдаю тебе и отдам ее твоим потомкам.
13 И Бог поднялся от него там, где Он говорил с ним.
14 Иаков поставил каменный столб на том месте, где Бог говорил с ним, и возлил на него вино как жертву возлияния и масло. 15 Иаков назвал место, где Бог говорил с ним, Вефиль[e].

8 But Devorah meineket Rivkah died, and she was buried under an alon (oak) below Beit-El; and shmo was called Alon Bachut.
9 And Elohim appeared unto Ya’akov again, when he returned from Padan Aram, and made a brocha upon him.
10 And Elohim said unto him, Shimcha is Ya’akov; shimcha shall not be called any more Ya’akov, but Yisroel shall be shemecha; and He called shmo Yisroel.
11 And Elohim said unto him, I am El Shaddai; be fruitful and multiply; a Goy (nation) and a Kehal Goyim shall be from thee, and Melechim shall come out of thy loins;
12 And HaAretz which I gave Avraham and Yitzchak, to thee I will give it, and to thy zera after thee will I give HaAretz.
13 And Elohim went up from him in the makom where He talked with him.
14 And Ya’akov set up a matzevah (pillar, monument) in the makom where He talked with him, even a matzevat even (pillar of stone); and he poured a nesech (drink offering) thereon, and he poured shemen (oil) thereon.
15 And Ya’akov called the shem of the makom where Elohim spoke with him, Beit- El.

8 Now Deborah, Rebekah’s nurse,(A) died and was buried under the oak(B) outside Bethel.(C) So it was named Allon Bakuth.[a]
9 After Jacob returned from Paddan Aram,[b](D) God appeared to him again and blessed him.(E) 10 God said to him, “Your name is Jacob,[c] but you will no longer be called Jacob; your name will be Israel.[d]”(F) So he named him Israel.
11 And God said to him, “I am God Almighty[e];(G) be fruitful and increase in number.(H) A nation(I) and a community of nations will come from you, and kings will be among your descendants.(J) 12 The land I gave to Abraham and Isaac I also give to you, and I will give this land to your descendants after you.(K)”(L) 13 Then God went up from him(M) at the place where he had talked with him.
14 Jacob set up a stone pillar(N) at the place where God had talked with him, and he poured out a drink offering(O) on it; he also poured oil on it.(P) 15 Jacob called the place where God had talked with him Bethel.[f](Q)
