18 A son retour de Paddan Aram, Jacob arriva heureusement à la ville de Sichem, dans le pays de Canaan, et il campa devant la ville.
19 Il acheta la portion du champ où il avait dressé sa tente, des fils d'Hamor, père de Sichem, pour cent kesita.
20 Et là, il éleva un autel, qu'il appela El Élohé Israël.

18 A son retour de Paddân-Aram, Jacob arriva sans encombre à la ville de Sichem, dans le pays de Canaan, et il établit son camp devant la ville. 19 Il acheta pour cent pièces d’argent[a] aux descendants de Hamor, fondateur de Sichem, la parcelle de terrain où il avait dressé ses tentes.
20 Il y érigea un autel qu’il appela El-Elohé-Israël (Dieu est le Dieu d’Israël).

18 After Jacob came from Paddan Aram,[a](A) he arrived safely at the city of Shechem(B) in Canaan and camped within sight of the city. 19 For a hundred pieces of silver,[b] he bought from the sons of Hamor,(C) the father of Shechem,(D) the plot of ground(E) where he pitched his tent.(F) 20 There he set up an altar(G) and called it El Elohe Israel.[c]
