^17 (A)Now the flood was on the earth forty days. The waters increased and lifted up the ark, and it rose high above the earth.

³⁵ And the children of Israel ^(A)ate manna ^(B)forty years, ^(C)until they came to an inhabited land; they ate manna until they came to the border of the land of Canaan.

¹⁸ So Moses went into the midst of the cloud and went up into the mountain. And ^(A)Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.

¹¹ So the land had rest for forty years. Then Othniel the son of Kenaz died.

¹⁶ And the Philistine drew near and presented himself forty days, morning and evening.

⁸ So he arose, and ate and drank; and he went in the strength of that food forty days and ^(A)forty nights as far as ^(B)Horeb, the mountain of God.

⁴ And Jonah began to enter the city on the first day’s walk. Then ^(A)he cried out and said, “Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown!”

² And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.
