²³ Then Shem and Japheth took a robe, held it over their shoulders, and backed into the tent to cover their father. As they did this, they looked the other way so they would not see him naked.

We Harvest What We Plant

6 Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer^[a] is overcome by some sin, you who are godly^[b] should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself.

¹² “Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

⁸ Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins.

¹⁷ Respect everyone, and love the family of believers.^[a] Fear God, and respect the king.

¹⁹ Do not listen to an accusation against an elder unless it is confirmed by two or three witnesses.

¹⁷ Elders who do their work well should be respected and paid well,^[a] especially those who work hard at both preaching and teaching.

Advice about Widows, Elders, and Slaves

5 Never speak harshly to an older man,^[a] but appeal to him respectfully as you would to your own father. Talk to younger men as you would to your own brothers.

⁷ Give to everyone what you owe them: Pay your taxes and government fees to those who collect them, and give respect and honor to those who are in authority.
