The Great Flood^(A)

7 Then the ^(B)Lord said to Noah, ^(C)“Come into the ark, you and all your household, because I have seen that ^(D)you are righteous before Me in this generation.

³⁷ But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. ^38 (A)For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, ³⁹ and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

⁵ and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly; ⁶ and turning the cities of ^(A)Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly; ⁷ and ^(B)delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked ⁸ (for that righteous man, dwelling among them, ^(C)tormented his righteous soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds)— ⁹ then ^(D)the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment,

Noah Pleases God

⁹ This is the genealogy of Noah. ^(A)Noah was a just man, ^[a]perfect in his generations. Noah ^(B)walked with God.

¹³ On the very same day Noah and Noah’s sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons with them, entered the ark—

²⁰ who formerly were disobedient, ^[a]when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water.

⁷ By faith ^(A)Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, ^(B)prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of ^(C)the righteousness which is according to faith.

⁴ and the Lord said to him, “Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and put ^(A)a mark on the foreheads of the men ^(B)who sigh and cry over all the abominations that are done within it.”

⁵ To the others He said in my ^[a]hearing, “Go after him through the city and ^(C)kill;^{[b] (D)}do not let your eye spare, nor have any pity. ^6 (E)Utterly^[c] slay old and young men, maidens and little children and women; but ^(F)do not come near anyone on whom is the mark; and ^(G)begin at My sanctuary.” ^(H)So they began with the elders who were before the ^[d]temple.
