¹⁴ So make yourself an ark of cypress^[a] wood;^(A) make rooms in it and coat it with pitch^(B) inside and out.

²⁷ People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.

²⁰ to those who were disobedient long ago when God waited patiently^(A) in the days of Noah while the ark was being built.^(B) In it only a few people, eight in all,^(C) were saved^(D) through water,

³⁸ For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage,^(A) up to the day Noah entered the ark;

³ But when she could hide him no longer, she got a papyrus^(A) basket^[a] for him and coated it with tar and pitch.^(B) Then she placed the child in it and put it among the reeds^(C) along the bank of the Nile.
