²² And ^(A)of Dan he said,

⁶ Then Rachel said, “God has ^(A)judged me, and has also heard my voice and given me a son.” Therefore she called his name Dan.^[a]

²⁶ Then the people of Dan went their way. And when Micah saw that they were too strong for him, he turned and went back to his home.

²⁷ But the people of Dan took what Micah had made, and the priest who belonged to him, and they came to Laish, to a people ^(A)quiet and unsuspecting, and ^(B)struck them with the edge of the sword and burned the city with fire.

Danites Take the Levite and the Idol

18 ^(A)In those days there was no king in Israel. And in those days ^(B)the tribe of the people of Dan was seeking for itself an inheritance to dwell in, for until then no inheritance among the tribes of Israel had fallen to them. ² So the people of Dan sent five able men from the whole number of their tribe, ^(C)from Zorah and from Eshtaol, ^(D)to spy out the land and to explore it. And they said to them, “Go and explore the land.” And they came ^(E)to the hill country of Ephraim, to the house of Micah, and lodged there.

²⁰ And he judged Israel ^(A)in the days of the Philistines twenty years.

²⁴ And the woman bore a son and called his name Samson. ^(A)And the young man grew, and the Lord blessed him. ^25 (B)And the Spirit of the Lord began to stir him in Mahaneh-dan, between ^(C)Zorah and Eshtaol.

² There was a certain man of ^(A)Zorah, of the tribe of the Danites, whose name was Manoah. ^(B)And his wife was barren and had no children.

²⁵ Then ^(A)the standard of the camp of the people of Dan, acting as the ^(B)rear guard of all the camps, set out by their companies, and over their company was ^(C)Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.
