¹⁰ Now the eyes of Israel were dim with age, and he could not see well. So Joseph brought them near him, and he kissed them and embraced them.^(A)

²⁷ So he came near and kissed him, and he smelled the smell of his garments and blessed him and said,

Isaac Blesses Jacob

27 When Isaac was old and his eyes were dim so that he could not see, he called his elder son Esau and said to him, “My son,” and he answered, “Here I am.”

Injustice and Oppression to Be Punished

²⁰ He left the oxen, ran after Elijah, and said, “Let me kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow you.” Then Elijah^[a] said to him, “Go back again, for what have I done to you?”^(A)

¹⁵ Now Eli was ninety-eight years old, and his eyes were set, so that he could not see.^(A)

² At that time Eli, whose eyesight had begun to grow dim so that he could not see, was lying down in his room;^(A)
