²⁴ And at the harvests you shall give one-fifth to Pharaoh, and four-fifths shall be your own, as seed for the field and as food for yourselves and your households and as food for your little ones.”^(A)

³⁴ Let Pharaoh proceed to appoint overseers over the land and take one-fifth of the produce of the land of Egypt during the seven plenteous years.

Psalm 41

Assurance of God’s Help and a Plea for Healing

To the leader. A Psalm of David.

¹⁵ He will take one-tenth of your grain and of your vineyards and give it to his officers and his courtiers. ¹⁶ He will take your male and female slaves and the best of your cattle^[a] and donkeys and put them to his work. ¹⁷ He will take one-tenth of your flocks, and you shall be his slaves.

³² All tithes of herd and flock, every tenth one that passes under the shepherd’s staff, shall be holy to the Lord.

²⁵ They said, “You have saved our lives; may it please my lord, we will be slaves to Pharaoh.”^(A)
