²⁴ Then when you harvest it, one-fifth of your crop will belong to Pharaoh. You may keep the remaining four-fifths as seed for your fields and as food for you, your households, and your little ones.”

³⁴ Then Pharaoh should appoint supervisors over the land and let them collect one-fifth of all the crops during the seven good years.

Psalm 41

For the choir director: A psalm of David.

¹⁵ He will take a tenth of your grain and your grape harvest and distribute it among his officers and attendants. ¹⁶ He will take your male and female slaves and demand the finest of your cattle^[a] and donkeys for his own use. ¹⁷ He will demand a tenth of your flocks, and you will be his slaves.

³² Count off every tenth animal from your herds and flocks and set them apart for the Lord as holy.

²⁵ “You have saved our lives!” they exclaimed. “May it please you, my lord, to let us be Pharaoh’s servants.”
