⁵ Then Jacob left Beersheba,^(A) and Israel’s^(B) sons took their father Jacob and their children and their wives in the carts^(C) that Pharaoh had sent to transport him.

²¹ So the sons of Israel did this. Joseph gave them carts,^(A) as Pharaoh had commanded, and he also gave them provisions for their journey.^(B)

¹⁹ “You are also directed to tell them, ‘Do this: Take some carts^(A) from Egypt for your children and your wives, and get your father and come.

²⁷ But when they told him everything Joseph had said to them, and when he saw the carts^(A) Joseph had sent to carry him back, the spirit of their father Jacob revived.

²⁶ Our livestock too must go with us; not a hoof is to be left behind. We have to use some of them in worshiping the Lord our God, and until we get there we will not know what we are to use to worship the Lord.”

²⁴ Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and said, “Go,^(A) worship the Lord. Even your women and children^(B) may go with you; only leave your flocks and herds behind.”^(C)

¹⁷ Then Jacob put his children and his wives^(A) on camels,^{(B) 18} and he drove all his livestock ahead of him, along with all the goods he had accumulated^(C) in Paddan Aram,^[a](D) to go to his father Isaac^(E) in the land of Canaan.^(F)

¹⁵ Then Jacob went down to Egypt, where he and our ancestors died.^(A)
