³⁴ that you shall say, ‘Your servants’ ^(A)occupation has been with livestock ^(B)from our youth even till now, both we and also our fathers,’ that you may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is ^(C)an^[a] abomination to the Egyptians.”

²⁶ And Moses said, “It is not right to do so, for we would be sacrificing ^(A)the abomination of the Egyptians to the Lord our God. If we sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians before their eyes, then will they not ^[a]stone us?

³² So they set him a place by himself, and them by themselves, and the Egyptians who ate with him by themselves; because the Egyptians could not eat food with the ^(A)Hebrews, for that is ^(B)an abomination to the Egyptians.

³² And the men are ^(A)shepherds, for their occupation has been to feed livestock; and they have brought their flocks, their herds, and all that they have.’

¹² Then his brothers went to feed their father’s flock in ^(A)Shechem.

^10 (A)You shall dwell in the land of Goshen, and you shall be near to me, you and your children, your children’s children, your flocks and your herds, and all that you have.

³⁵ So he removed that day the male goats that were ^(A)speckled and spotted, all the female goats that were speckled and spotted, every one that had some white in it, and all the brown ones among the lambs, and gave them into the hand of his sons.

⁵ And Jacob heard that he had defiled Dinah his daughter. Now his sons were with his livestock in the field; so Jacob ^(A)held^[a] his peace until they came.
