^32 (A)And the men are shepherds, for they have been keepers of livestock, and they have brought their flocks and their herds and all that they have.’

³ Pharaoh said to his brothers, ^(A)“What is your occupation?” And they said to Pharaoh, ^(B)“Your servants are shepherds, as our fathers were.”

⁵ but he will say, ^(A)‘I am no prophet, I am a worker of the soil, for a man sold me in my youth.’^[a]

⁵ And Ahab said to Obadiah, “Go through the land to all the springs of water and to all the valleys. Perhaps we may find grass and save the horses and mules alive, and not lose some of the animals.” ⁶ So they divided the land between them to pass through it. Ahab went in one direction by himself, and Obadiah went in another direction by himself.

²⁷ And Hiram sent ^(A)with the fleet his servants, seamen who were familiar with the sea, together with the servants of Solomon.

¹⁵ but David went back and forth from Saul ^(A)to feed his father's sheep at Bethlehem.

The Burning Bush

3 Now Moses was keeping the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian, and he led his flock to the west side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the ^(A)mountain of God.

³⁴ you shall say, ^(A)‘Your servants have been keepers of livestock ^(B)from our youth even until now, both we and our fathers,’ in order that you may dwell ^(C)in the land of Goshen, for every shepherd is ^(D)an abomination to the Egyptians.”
