³¹ Then Joseph said to his brothers and to his father’s household, “I will go up and speak to Pharaoh and will say to him, ‘My brothers and my father’s household, who were living in the land of Canaan,^(A) have come to me.^(B)

¹¹ Both the one who makes people holy^(A) and those who are made holy^(B) are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters.^[a](C)

³ and because he was a tentmaker as they were, he stayed and worked with them.^(A)

47 Joseph went and told Pharaoh, “My father and brothers, with their flocks and herds and everything they own, have come from the land of Canaan^(A) and are now in Goshen.”^{(B) 2} He chose five of his brothers and presented them^(C) before Pharaoh.

³ Pharaoh asked the brothers, “What is your occupation?”^(D)

“Your servants^(E) are shepherds,^(F)” they replied to Pharaoh, “just as our fathers were.”

¹⁶ When the news reached Pharaoh’s palace that Joseph’s brothers had come,^(A) Pharaoh and all his officials^(B) were pleased.^{(C) 17} Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Tell your brothers, ‘Do this: Load your animals^(D) and return to the land of Canaan,^{(E) 18} and bring your father and your families back to me. I will give you the best of the land of Egypt^(F) and you can enjoy the fat of the land.’^(G)

¹⁹ “You are also directed to tell them, ‘Do this: Take some carts^(H) from Egypt for your children and your wives, and get your father and come. ²⁰ Never mind about your belongings,^(I) because the best of all Egypt^(J) will be yours.’”
