³ “I am God, the God of your father,”^(A) he said. “Do not be afraid^(B) to go down to Egypt,^(C) for I will make you into a great nation^(D) there.^(E)

⁵ Then you shall declare before the Lord your God: “My father was a wandering^(A) Aramean,^(B) and he went down into Egypt with a few people^(C) and lived there and became a great nation,^(D) powerful and numerous.

²⁴ and said, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand trial before Caesar;^(A) and God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you.’^(B)

Israel’s Only Savior

¹¹ And God said to him, “I am God Almighty^[a];^(A) be fruitful and increase in number.^(B) A nation^(C) and a community of nations will come from you, and kings will be among your descendants.^(D)

² The Lord appeared^(A) to Isaac and said, “Do not go down to Egypt;^(B) live in the land where I tell you to live.^{(C) 3} Stay in this land for a while,^(D) and I will be with you^(E) and will bless you.^(F) For to you and your descendants I will give all these lands^(G) and will confirm the oath I swore to your father Abraham.^(H)

¹⁷ “As the time drew near for God to fulfill his promise to Abraham, the number of our people in Egypt had greatly increased.^(A)
