^18 (A)These were the sons of Zilpah, ^(B)whom Laban gave to Leah his daughter; and these she bore to Jacob: sixteen persons.

²⁴ And Laban gave his maid ^(A)Zilpah to his daughter Leah as a maid.

⁴ Dan, Naphtali, Gad, and Asher.

²⁶ and the sons of Zilpah, Leah’s maidservant, were Gad and Asher. These were the sons of Jacob who were born to him in Padan Aram.

⁹ When Leah saw that she had stopped bearing, she took Zilpah her maid and ^(A)gave her to Jacob as wife. ¹⁰ And Leah’s maid Zilpah bore Jacob a son. ¹¹ Then Leah said, ^[a]“A troop comes!” So she called his name ^[b]Gad. ¹² And Leah’s maid Zilpah bore Jacob a second son. ¹³ Then Leah said, “I am happy, for the daughters ^(B)will call me blessed.” So she called his name ^[c]Asher.
