Jacob’s Journey to Egypt^(A)

46 So Israel took his journey with all that he had, and came to ^(B)Beersheba, and offered sacrifices ^(C)to the God of his father Isaac.

^42 (A)Unless the God of my father, the God of Abraham and ^(B)the Fear of Isaac, had been with me, surely now you would have sent me away empty-handed. ^(C)God has seen my affliction and the labor of my hands, and ^(D)rebuked you last night.”

^13 (A)And behold, the Lord stood above it and said: ^(B)“I am the Lord God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac; ^(C)the land on which you lie I will give to you and your descendants.

Jacob’s Vow at Bethel

¹⁰ Now Jacob ^(A)went out from Beersheba and went toward ^(B)Haran.

²² And he moved from there and dug another well, and they did not quarrel over it. So he called its name ^[a]Rehoboth, because he said, “For now the Lord has made room for us, and we shall ^(A)be fruitful in the land.”

²³ Then he went up from there to Beersheba. ²⁴ And the Lord ^(B)appeared to him the same night and said, ^(C)“I am the God of your father Abraham; ^(D)do not fear, for ^(E)I am with you. I will bless you and multiply your descendants for My servant Abraham’s sake.” ²⁵ So he ^(F)built an altar there and ^(G)called on the name of the Lord, and he pitched his tent there; and there Isaac’s servants dug a well.

³³ Then Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba, and ^(A)there called on the name of the Lord, ^(B)the Everlasting God.

³¹ Therefore he ^(A)called that place ^[a]Beersheba, because the two of them swore an oath there.

¹⁴ So Abraham rose early in the morning, and took bread and ^[a]a skin of water; and putting it on her shoulder, he gave it and the boy to Hagar, and ^(A)sent her away. Then she departed and wandered in the Wilderness of Beersheba.

⁸ Now therefore, take for yourselves ^(A)seven bulls and seven rams, ^(B)go to My servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and My servant Job shall ^(C)pray for you. For I will accept ^[a]him, lest I deal with you according to your folly; because you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has.”
