²⁸ And Israel said, “I’m convinced!^(A) My son Joseph is still alive. I will go and see him before I die.”^(B)

²¹ A woman giving birth to a child has pain^(A) because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world. ²² So with you: Now is your time of grief,^(B) but I will see you again^(C) and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.^(D)

²⁸ Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying:

³⁰ Israel^(A) said to Joseph, “Now I am ready to die, since I have seen for myself that you are still alive.”^(B)
