²⁶ They told him, “Joseph is still alive! In fact, he is ruler of all Egypt.”^(A) Jacob was stunned; he did not believe them.^(B)

²⁸ One of them went away from me, and I said, “He has surely been torn to pieces.”^(A) And I have not seen him since.^(B)

³⁵ All his sons and daughters came to comfort him,^(A) but he refused to be comforted.^(B) “No,” he said, “I will continue to mourn until I join my son^(C) in the grave.^(D)” So his father wept for him.

⁴¹ And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?”

³⁴ and saying, “It is true! The Lord^(A) has risen and has appeared to Simon.”^(B)

¹¹ But they did not believe^(A) the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense.
