¹⁶ And Judah said, “What can we say to my lord? What can we speak? How can we clear ourselves? God has found out the guilt of your servants; here we are then, my lord’s slaves, both we and also the one in whose possession the cup has been found.”^(A)

⁹ Should it be found with any one of your servants, let him die; moreover, the rest of us will become my lord’s slaves.”^(A)

⁷ “Righteousness is on your side, O Lord, but open shame, as at this day, falls on us, the people of Judah, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and all Israel, those who are near and those who are far away, in all the lands to which you have driven them because of the treachery that they have committed against you.^(A)

² Nothing is covered up that will not be uncovered and nothing secret that will not become known.^(A)

²³ But if you do not do this, you have sinned against the Lord, and be sure your sin will find you out.

The First Converts

³⁷ Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and to the other apostles, “Brothers,^[a] what should we do?”^(A)

² For the judgment you give will be the judgment you get, and the measure you give will be the measure you get.
