⁹ I myself will be surety for him; from my hand you shall require him. ^(A)If I do not bring him back to you and set him before you, then let me bear the blame forever.

³⁷ Then Reuben spoke to his father, saying, “Kill my two sons if I do not bring him back to you; put him in my hands, and I will bring him back to you.”

²² by so much more Jesus has become a ^[a]surety of a ^(A)better covenant.

¹⁸ But if he has wronged you or owes anything, put that on my account. ¹⁹ I, Paul, am writing with my own ^(A)hand. I will repay—not to mention to you that you owe me even your own self besides.

³² For your servant became surety for the lad to my father, saying, ^(A)‘If I do not bring him back to you, then I shall bear the blame before my father forever.’ ³³ Now therefore, please ^(B)let your servant remain instead of the lad as a slave to my lord, and let the lad go up with his brothers.

⁸ When I say to the wicked, ‘O wicked man, you shall surely die!’ and you do not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand.

⁶ But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, and the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any person from among them, ^(A)he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand.’

²⁰ “Again, when a ^(A)righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die; because you did not give him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered; but his blood I will require at your hand.

¹⁸ When I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man ^(A)shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand.
