³² So they set him a place by himself, and them by themselves, and the Egyptians who ate with him by themselves; because the Egyptians could not eat food with the ^(A)Hebrews, for that is ^(B)an abomination to the Egyptians.

²⁶ And Moses said, “It is not right to do so, for we would be sacrificing ^(A)the abomination of the Egyptians to the Lord our God. If we sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians before their eyes, then will they not ^[a]stone us?

³⁴ that you shall say, ‘Your servants’ ^(A)occupation has been with livestock ^(B)from our youth even till now, both we and also our fathers,’ that you may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is ^(C)an^[a] abomination to the Egyptians.”

¹⁶ When Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to the ^(A)steward of his house, “Take these men to my home, and slaughter ^[a]an animal and make ready; for these men will dine with me at noon.”

⁵⁴ Then Jacob offered a sacrifice on the mountain, and called his brethren to eat bread. And they ate bread and stayed all night on the mountain.
