³ But Judah said to him, “The man solemnly warned us, saying, ‘You shall not see my face unless your ^(A)brother is with you.’

²³ Then you said to your servants, ^(A)‘Unless your youngest brother comes down with you, you shall not see my face again.’

⁵ But if you will not send him, we will not go down, for the man said to us, ‘You shall not see my face, unless your brother is with you.’”

³⁸ being sorrowful most of all because of ^(A)the word he had spoken, that they would not see his face again. And ^(B)they accompanied him to the ship.

²⁵ And now, behold, ^(A)I know that none of you among whom I have gone about ^(B)proclaiming the kingdom will see my face again.

^34 (A)I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt, and ^(B)have heard their groaning, and ^(C)I have come down to deliver them. ^(D)And now come, I will send you to Egypt.’

³² Absalom answered Joab, “Behold, I sent word to you, ‘Come here, that I may send you to the king, to ask, “Why have I come from ^(A)Geshur? It would be better for me to be there still.” Now therefore let me go into the presence of the king, ^(B)and if there is guilt in me, let him put me to death.’”

²⁸ So Absalom lived two full years in Jerusalem, without coming into the king's presence.

²⁴ And the king said, “Let him dwell apart in his own house; he is not to come into my presence.” So Absalom lived apart in his own house and did not come into the king's presence.

¹³ And he said, “Good; I will make a covenant with you. But one thing I require of you; that is, ^(A)you shall not see my face unless you first bring ^(B)Michal, Saul's daughter, when you come to see my face.”
