²⁷ When one of them opened his sack to give his donkey fodder at the lodging place, he saw his money at the top of the sack.

²⁴ On the way, at a place where they spent the night, the Lord met him and tried to kill him.^(A)

³⁴ He went to him and bandaged his wounds, treating them with oil and wine. Then he put him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

⁷ And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in bands of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no place in the guest room.^[a]

¹¹ Then each one quickly lowered his sack to the ground, and each opened his sack.

²¹ and when we came to the lodging place we opened our sacks, and there was each one’s money in the top of his sack, our money in full weight. So we have brought it back with us.^{(A) 22} Moreover, we have brought down with us additional money to buy food. We do not know who put our money in our sacks.”
