⁵⁴ and the seven years of famine began to come, just as Joseph had said. There was famine in every country, but throughout the land of Egypt there was bread.^(A)

¹¹ Now there came a famine throughout Egypt and Canaan and great suffering, and our ancestors could find no food.^(A)

¹¹ I will provide for you there, since there are five more years of famine to come, so that you and your household and all that you have will not come to poverty.’

³⁰ After them there will arise seven years of famine, and all the plenty will be forgotten in the land of Egypt; the famine will consume the land.^(A)

The Famine in Egypt

¹³ Now there was no food in all the land, for the famine was very severe. The land of Egypt and the land of Canaan languished because of the famine.^(A)

² I have heard,” he said, “that there is grain in Egypt; go down and buy grain for us there, that we may live and not die.”^(A)

²⁷ The seven lean and ugly cows that came up after them are seven years, as are the seven empty ears blighted by the east wind. They are seven years of famine.^(A)
