^54 (A)and the seven years of famine began to come, ^(B)as Joseph had said. The famine was in all lands, but in all the land of Egypt there was bread.

^11 (A)Now a famine and great ^[a]trouble came over all the land of Egypt and Canaan, and our fathers found no sustenance.

¹¹ There I will ^(A)provide for you, lest you and your household, and all that you have, come to poverty; for there are still five years of famine.” ’

³⁰ but after them seven years of famine will ^(A)arise, and all the plenty will be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine ^(B)will deplete the land.

Joseph Deals with the Famine

¹³ Now there was no bread in all the land; for the famine was very severe, ^(A)so that the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan languished because of the famine.

Joseph’s Brothers Return with Benjamin

43 Now the famine was ^(A)severe in the land.

⁵ And the sons of Israel went to buy grain among those who journeyed, for the famine was ^(A)in the land of Canaan.

⁶ Now Joseph was governor ^(B)over the land; and it was he who sold to all the people of the land. And Joseph’s brothers came and ^(C)bowed down before him with their faces to the earth.

² And he said, “Indeed I have heard that there is grain in Egypt; go down to that place and buy for us there, that we may ^(A)live and not die.”

²⁷ And the seven thin and ugly cows which came up after them are seven years, and the seven empty heads blighted by the east wind are ^(A)seven years of famine.
