^40 (A)You shall be ^[a]over my house, and all my people shall be ruled according to your word; only in regard to the throne will I be greater than you.”

¹⁰ and delivered him out of all his troubles, ^(A)and gave him favor and wisdom in the presence of Pharaoh, king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house.

³ Then this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps, ^(A)because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king gave thought to setting him over the whole realm.

²⁹ Then Belshazzar gave the command, and they clothed Daniel with purple and put a chain of gold around his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him ^(A)that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.

Daniel and His Friends Promoted

^46 (A)Then King Nebuchadnezzar fell on his face, prostrate before Daniel, and commanded that they should present an offering ^(B)and incense to him. ⁴⁷ The king answered Daniel, and said, “Truly ^(C)your God is the God of ^(D)gods, the Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, since you could reveal this secret.” ^48 (E)Then the king promoted Daniel ^(F)and gave him many great gifts; and he made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and ^(G)chief administrator over all the wise men of Babylon.
