⁴⁰ You shall be in charge of my palace,^(A) and all my people are to submit to your orders.^(B) Only with respect to the throne will I be greater than you.^(C)”

¹⁰ and rescued him from all his troubles. He gave Joseph wisdom and enabled him to gain the goodwill of Pharaoh king of Egypt. So Pharaoh made him ruler over Egypt and all his palace.^(A)

Saying 6

³ Now Daniel so distinguished himself among the administrators and the satraps by his exceptional qualities that the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom.^(A)

²⁹ Then at Belshazzar’s command, Daniel was clothed in purple, a gold chain was placed around his neck,^(A) and he was proclaimed the third highest ruler in the kingdom.^(B)

⁴⁶ Then King Nebuchadnezzar fell prostrate^(A) before Daniel and paid him honor and ordered that an offering^(B) and incense be presented to him. ⁴⁷ The king said to Daniel, “Surely your God is the God of gods^(C) and the Lord of kings^(D) and a revealer of mysteries,^(E) for you were able to reveal this mystery.^(F)”

⁴⁸ Then the king placed Daniel in a high^(G) position and lavished many gifts on him. He made him ruler over the entire province of Babylon and placed him in charge of all its wise men.^(H)

10 Then Samuel took a flask^(A) of olive oil and poured it on Saul’s head and kissed him, saying, “Has not the Lord anointed^(B) you ruler over his inheritance?^[a](C)
