⁷ He raises the poor from the dust
    and lifts the needy from the ash heap,
⁸ to make them sit with princes,
    with the princes of his people.

³ to provide for those who mourn in Zion—
    to give them a garland instead of ashes,
the oil of gladness instead of mourning,
    the mantle of praise instead of a faint spirit.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
    the planting of the Lord, to display his glory.^(A)

¹⁹ until what he had said came to pass,
    the word of the Lord kept testing him.^(A)
20 The king sent and released him;
    the ruler of the peoples set him free.^(B)
21 He made him lord of his house
    and ruler of all his possessions,^(C)
22 to instruct^[a] his officials at his pleasure
    and to teach his elders wisdom.

    he brings low; he also exalts.^(A)

For the pillars of the earth are the Lord’s,
