¹⁵ For ^(A)I was indeed stolen out of the land of the Hebrews, and ^(B)here also I have done nothing that they should put me into the pit.”

²⁰ And Joseph's master took him and ^(A)put him into the ^(B)prison, the place where the king's prisoners were confined, and he was there in prison.

¹⁷ For ^(A)it is better to suffer for doing good, if that should be God's will, than for doing evil.

¹⁸ For Christ also ^(B)suffered^{[a] (C)}once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, ^(D)that he might bring us to God, being put to death ^(E)in the flesh but made alive ^(F)in the spirit,

¹⁰ the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers,^[a] liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to ^(A)sound^[b] doctrine,

¹⁰ But Paul said, “I am standing before Caesar's ^(A)tribunal, where I ought to be tried. To the Jews I have done no wrong, as you yourself know very well. ¹¹ If then I am a wrongdoer and have committed anything for which I deserve to die, I do not seek to escape death. But if there is nothing to their charges against me, no one can give me up to them. ^(B)I appeal to Caesar.”

¹² and ^(A)they did not find me disputing with anyone or stirring up a crowd, either in the temple or in the synagogues or in the city. ^13 (B)Neither can they prove to you what they now bring up against me. ¹⁴ But this I confess to you, that according to ^(C)the Way, which they call ^(D)a sect, ^(E)I worship ^(F)the God of our fathers, believing everything ^(G)laid down by the Law and written in the Prophets, ^15 (H)having ^(I)a hope in God, which these men themselves accept, that there will be ^(J)a resurrection ^(K)of both the just and the unjust. ¹⁶ So I always ^(L)take pains to have a ^(M)clear conscience toward both God and man. ¹⁷ Now ^(N)after several years ^(O)I came to bring alms to ^(P)my nation and to present ^(Q)offerings. ¹⁸ While I was doing this, they found me ^(R)purified in the temple, without any crowd or tumult. But ^(S)some Jews from Asia— ^19 (T)they ought to be here before you and to make an accusation, should they have anything against me. ²⁰ Or else let these men themselves say what wrongdoing they found when I stood before the council, ²¹ other than this one thing ^(U)that I cried out while standing among them: ‘It is with respect to the resurrection of the dead that I am on trial before you this day.’”

²⁵ But ^(A)the word that is written in their Law must be fulfilled: ^(B)‘They hated me without a cause.’

³² Jesus answered them, “I have shown you many good works from the Father; for which of them are you going to stone me?”

²² My God ^(A)sent his angel ^(B)and shut the lions' mouths, and they have not harmed me, because I was found blameless ^(C)before him; ^(D)and also before you, O king, I have done no harm.”
