⁴ Abel also brought of ^(A)the firstborn of his flock and of ^(B)their fat. And the Lord ^(C)respected Abel and his offering,

Faith at the Dawn of History^(A)

⁴ By faith ^(B)Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still ^(C)speaks.

^12 (A)that you shall ^[a]set apart to the Lord all that open the womb, that is, every firstborn that comes from an animal which you have; the males shall be the Lord’s.

¹⁹ but ^(A)with the precious blood of Christ, ^(B)as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. ^20 (C)He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was ^[a]manifest ^(D)in these last times for you

^17 (A)But the firstborn of a cow, the firstborn of a sheep, or the firstborn of a goat you shall not redeem; they are holy. ^(B)You shall sprinkle their blood on the altar, and burn their fat as an offering made by fire for a sweet aroma to the Lord.

²² And according to the law almost all things are ^[a]purified with blood, and ^(A)without shedding of blood there is no ^[b]remission.

Solomon Dedicates the Temple^(A)

7 When ^(B)Solomon had finished praying, ^(C)fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and ^(D)the glory of the Lord filled the ^[a]temple.
