⁸ His brothers said to him, “Do you intend to reign over us? Will you actually rule us?”^(A) And they hated him all the more^(B) because of his dream and what he had said.

³⁵ “This is the same Moses they had rejected with the words, ‘Who made you ruler and judge?’^(A) He was sent to be their ruler and deliverer by God himself, through the angel who appeared to him in the bush.

²⁷ But some scoundrels^(A) said, “How can this fellow save us?” They despised him and brought him no gifts.^(B) But Saul kept silent.

²⁹ How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God^(A) underfoot,^(B) who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant^(C) that sanctified them,^(D) and who has insulted the Spirit^(E) of grace?^(F)

²⁷ Indeed Herod^(A) and Pontius Pilate^(B) met together with the Gentiles and the people of Israel in this city to conspire against your holy servant Jesus,^(C) whom you anointed. ²⁸ They did what your power and will had decided beforehand should happen.^(D)

¹⁷ Jesus looked directly at them and asked, “Then what is the meaning of that which is written:
