²² And Reuben said to them, “Shed no blood; throw him into this pit here in the wilderness, but do not lay a hand on him”—^(A)that he might rescue him out of their hand to restore him to his father.

²⁴ So when Pilate saw that he was gaining nothing, but rather that ^(A)a riot was beginning, he took water and ^(B)washed his hands before the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of ^(C)this man's blood;^{[a] (D)}see to it yourselves.”

⁹ But you shall kill him. ^(A)Your hand shall be first against him to put him to death, and afterward the hand of all the people.

¹¹ And he did not lay his hand on the chief men of the people of Israel; they beheld God, and ^(A)ate and drank.

²² And Reuben answered them, ^(A)“Did I not tell you not to sin against the boy? But you did not listen. So now ^(B)there comes a reckoning for his blood.”

¹² He said, ^(A)“Do not lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him, for ^(B)now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.”
